Yuffie grew up in Wutai after the war had ended. She watched it become more and more of a tourist spot while growing up on stories of the wonders and honorable Wutai. Yuffie hates Shinra and everyone associated with the group that destroyed the honor of her home.
She starts by getting information from the anti-Shinra group and uses it to try and ambush Shinra employee's on their way to get it. Zack is her prime target in this effort and is rarely fooled by her ruses. She is a treasure hunter but doesn't always find treasure that is up to her standards.
After this Yuffie meets Avalanche and starts to scheme to steal their materia along with Turk. She founds out after a crazy adventure that Turk is with shinra and flees. She continues to travel attacking passerby's for treasure and materia.
After her journey with Cloud and the others Yuffie returned home to find her home in ruins and the start of a plague.
Yuffie is still angry at Shinra as well as stubborn and fool hearty. She has the skills of a ninja being able to disguise as well as hide and fight.
"Yuffie has a cocky, proud, brash personality, and she can be aggressive. Yuffie is a tomboy and acts unashamedly towards her goals. She bestows honorific titles on herself, such as "Great Ninja Yuffie", "The Single White Rose of Wutai" and states everyone is "Dyin' to talk to a babe like [her]". Despite being the daughter of Wutai's leader, Godo Kisaragi, Yuffie has little tolerance for tradition and is rebellious to Wutai's old-fashioned ways, which lead to her clashing with her father.
Yuffie is clever and cunning, but despite this, she is not averse to heroics and is a reliable ally and caring friend.
Yuffie is the subject of two running jokes in the series. One is her motion sickness, as she gets ill whenever on a moving vehicle, be it an airship or a boat. The other is her obsession with Materia"
